Any searching involving ‘ringtones’ is going to be a bit futile due to spam. But I valiantly slogged through a few 100-result pages and though it seems unlikely I appear to be the only person who’s noticed the uncanny similarity between the iPhone’s “Marimba” ringtone and the pulse/gamelan pieces of American composer Steve Reich. Instead of getting annoyed at the cheap imitation I made a better loop from Movement 11 of “Music for 18 Musicians”. Here’s the file for your own comparison and enjoyment.
